Corvallis-Benton County Public Library [for State Library of Oregon],
The LSTA [Library Services and Technology Act]-funded project to expand the Oregon Digital Library
collection required an evaluation. The program offers thousands of audio and video materials to
libraries throughout Oregon via the Library2Go service. The service increases library offerings to all,
but, especially, to library users who are unable to physically go to their local libraries and to users of
libraries with limited resources to purchase materials.
Providence Health and Services - Oregon,
I.S. Department, wanted to redesign their Intranet site with
users in mind - all Providence employees in the Oregon Region. After
in-depth interviews with representative staff and an independent
heuristic evaluation of the current site, D. L. Cohen Information
Services provided guidelines and recommendations for site content
and information architecture.
iCurrent
- a new current awareness website using advanced filtering and text
analytics software to provide users with customized news and information
- is in development. D. L. Cohen Information Services is providing
taxonomy services for the company.
Mercy Corps, Inc.
D. L. Cohen Information Services conducted a comprehensive needs assessment as a
foundation for an organizational Intranet.
Chris Olson
& Associates contracted with D. L. Cohen Information Services
to join a team developing a prototype knowledge and records management
website for the second largest nickel mining company in the world.
The website combined into a unified interface internal company documents,
external research databases, access to the services of the company's
reference librarians as well as up-to-date industry news along with
other opportunities for sharing knowledge.

an information needs assessment as a foundation for CM, website,
intranet and other high-level projects".
KAPS Group used the taxonomy development
expertise of D. L. Cohen Information Services to create and define the taxonomies used by Inxight's Smart
Discovery enterprise search and retrieval software.
As an instructor for Emporia State University's
Graduate School of Library and Information Management, Donna
L. Cohen taught LIB-811 Assessing Information Needs and Evaluating
Information Resources.
L-net:
Oregon's Statewide Virtual Reference Service a LSTA funded
program, was just over a year old when D. L. Cohen Information Services
conducted a comprehensive evaluation process resulting in a report
outlining areas needing improvement and providing recommendations
for enhancing this state-of-the-art reference program.
Technical Assistance for Community Services
- Organizational changes necessitated new strategies for information
management. D. L. Cohen Information Services was consulted for information
needs analysis, taxonomy creation, and database development.
Reclaiming
Futures - a first-of-its-kind program to develop models of systems
of care to treat juvenile substance abusers in the justice system
at several sites around the country. D. L. Cohen Information Services
conducted a full-scale Information Needs Assessment that will provide
the knowledge necessary to create appropriate information management
systems.
The National
Indian Child Welfare Association -. D. L. Cohen Information
Services was called upon to conduct a comprehensive Information
Needs Assessment. Recommendations included strategies for enhancing
the present physical library into a web-based library and expanding
the website as a communications tool. D. L. Cohen Information Services
then worked with NICWA to implement many development tasks including
customization of library database software, subject taxonomy development
and library staff training..
The report was of high quality, exceeding expectations…We

The State of OregonHealth
Licensing Office - An information needs assessment
was conducted by D. L. Cohen Information Services.
Follow-up services included development activities which transformed
information access from a cumbersome manual activity to a streamlined,
computerized process.
